week14 Haptics, Touch and Visions

This week we talk about the sense of touch and vision in machines and AI. This topic is really interesting, Senses are a unique characteristic of living things,  As technology explores the biology and the human brain more and more, researchers are discovering more of the body's senses. Examples include muscles, tendons and joints that include receptors that produce a sense of force (aka movement); receptors in the vestibule of the inner ear that provide us with a sense of balance; in the circulatory system, receptors that are sensitive to changes in carbon dioxide in the blood, blood pressure or heart rate; and receptors in the digestive tract that appear to regulate sensations such as hunger and thirst, with some brain cells possibly also involved as hunger receptors. This is particularly true for cells in the lower part of the brain (such as the hypothalamus), where some cells are sensitive to changes in blood chemistry (water and other digestive products) and even to change...

Week13

This week we discussed the use of computer technology in everyday life (e.g., environmental issues). This reminds me of some works by using sensors, Arduino and other electronic or physical materials. The artist uses sensory devices to map out the corresponding environment and other issues by combining them with natural objects. Like the article written by Jennifer, Helen, and Benjamin Just good enough data: Figuring data citizenships through air pollution sensing and data stories. use the low-cost and accessible digital technologies to monitor environments. Monitoring data to allow citizens to perceive the level of pollution in the environment. then look at the bio-sensing art in1970s. It is possible to find the artist beginning to present a complete work through the medium of art and nature, and then working with technicians. The artist uses the biological information of natural creatures as data input signals, which are then used for the next step of artistic output.

Week12 Critical making & technology

This week we talk about some of The critical thinking behind technological works. It needs to be suggested in this context that technological developments have led to a diversity of ways of presenting works. Artists are beginning to apply various technological approaches to set out to create an installation or a system. The artist is constantly researching in the process of making, from learning the technology to improving it to the presentation of the final idea. Garnet Hertz talked about the relationship between critical thinking and its object. He supposed that"several different things can be built to serve several different purposes"" critical and speculative design is a bit more focused on building out the narrative, and is using an object to build a narrative" (the interview can be found on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD43kCvI1wY ) The integration of technology into artworks is in line with today's state of technological development, and such a prese...
