week8 Human and AI

Cyborg, quite like the combination between the robot and human. I think this is also artificial intelligence. Like Suchman said: projects in AI and robotics involve a kind of dou-bling or mimicry in the machine that works as a powerful disclosing agent for assumptions about the human. Cyborg is a kind of existence that imitates people. What we see most is the semi bionic people in the film. They have ideas but are not real people. This kind of machine is often invented by referring to human behaviour and shapes. So, just like Suchman said: what it means to be humanlike, and how the boundary between humans and nonhumans is correspondingly drawn and redrawn, is of course one of the matters in question. When cyborg really appears, when their appearance is no different from human beings and has the ability of independent thinking, can we distinguish cyborg, a non-human machine, from human beings? Have the boundaries been broken? Will some order be broken, and will the moral order ...

Week7 Situated Algorithms & Situated knowledge

It is interesting to know that context(situation) can affect the generation of algorithms. When reading the article by  Donna Haraway , and watching some parts of the video by Ruha Benjamin , I found that this kind of situational is also involved in the field of design. In addition to the algorithm, there will be its own genre in any creation. Various art sects in the 19th century expressed different directions and presented different ways.  Neoclassicism, Romantic realism, Impressionism, Modern art,  all have their own characteristics. Then to the avant-garde art, according to the situation of the times, each artist breaks the traditional artistic expression form from their own different fields to express their views, like in film industry, music...

Week5 Start thinking: Why do we need interaction?Relationship between immersive space and spectator

图片
This week, after the discussion, we began to think about some questions:  Now we are in a world full of interaction, between people, between people and machines... More and more artworks begin to add the element of "interaction". Many works begin to put spectators in an immersive environment, and then use various scientific and technological means to make spectators interact with the environment. Then we doubt, what is interaction? why do we need interaction? when we are in an immersive environment, what really is the relationship between people, time and space?  Besides, in terms of the  interaction method, should we use massive technology to make the interaction happen?  Is technology really that important? Can interaction be achieved without these  technological  means? We looked for several examples and made a comparison: Some immersive spaces with various technology:   flower forest: lost, immersed and reborn in teamLab Borderless Museum (teamLab,...
