Week4 Machine thinking
AI, what we called Artificial intelligence, has been studied since the last century.
We can find AI in early science fiction movies, such as Ex Machina, Blade Runner 2049, The Terminator, The Matrix...And People have shown their imagination of the future development of artificial intelligence in these films. However, we can find that the artificial intelligence in these films is endowed with consciousness and the ability of self think.
In AI Debate: How far can the AI revolution go? Dr Eugene Izhikevich mentioned that the previous machine needed human intervention in advance to make the machine run. Now people are committed to studying the brain, and then creating a brain for the machine through algorithms so that it can operate on its own intelligently. Just like Apple Siri, Autonomous vehicles(Self-driving cars), home automation...Also, Dr Eugene mentions "conscious" and propose if a machine has consciousness, can we turn it off? The Turing test in the last century is also studying whether machines can think as consciously as people?
What I think is, Human brain nerve is connected with various senses. People will respond differently to different environments, and people continue to learn to expand their consciousness in the process of growth. Dr Eugene also proposes an example: do 6-month-old children have consciousness? It's quite an interesting question. Therefore, whether a machine can be conscious depends on how we define it. Therefore, people continue to study how to make machines more intelligent in artificial intelligence. At the same time, consciousness has been defined as complete self-thinking in some movies or TV dramas to imagine what would happen if machines were completely like humans.
People will think of the worst situation, but at the same time, they will continue to upgrade intelligent machines. I think the two are still quite contradictory,
